Found - Solar-Systems

Space: The Final Frontier: an awe inspiring, vast, expanse, that holds mysteries beyond our comprehension....well certainly mine at least, because no matter how often I tune into Stargazing Live (melting with admiration in the face of Professor Brian Cox's soothing lilt and luscious locks) it still boggles my mind in every possible way. Yes I know the basics - Saturn likes to hula hoop; Pluto's been left out in the cold; everything is named after chocolate bars, and that in some galaxy far far away Wimpy's flagship building project has been vandalised twice by Jedi's - but aside from that I'm lost. Luckily for the immediate prospects of this post, my lack of Astronomical intellect hasn't precluded me from knowing a little about the SOLAR-SYSTEMS located closer to home.

This as yet virtually uncharted constellation, has been shaped through the alignment of two particularly bright stars - London producer Dreamtrak, and a singer by the name of Laura Wolf. The latter should be ringing bells amongst our more loyal readers, as Miss Wolf is the voice of past Found Of Confusion featurerererers Internet Forever, and with her premier projects album all boxed up and waiting for release (plug: review of it here) the southern chanteuse can now turn her attention to other ventures. In Solar-Systems case what that entails is making the type of tracks that usually get the wise heads at Kitsune nodding approvingly. 'Throw Your Hands Up' is a feel good, generation ecstasy, club anthem; its plink plonking piano chorus emulating the kind of crowd pleasing 45's that would litter Danny Rampling's record box as Shroom or Heaven. On 'Josephine' the mood shifts more towards seductive and illusory, we're in Nottee or Jolie Cherie's dream-weaving house territory here, and, given the infrequency of those pairs excellent releases, it's a trip that's most welcome. Pick of the pack though may well be 'The Sea Of Green'; the water themed title replicated by ripples of synths, that in turn flow into a mid section dripping with horns and strings akin to those frequently employed by Spanish beat blenders Delorean - resplendent in sun drenched rays this is music that's healthy for the soul! Space is simple really, the Moon orbits the Earth, the Earth orbits the Sun - any more tracks like these though and we could all be turning Solar-Systems way soon.

Found - Fonetiks

Remember when wannabe pre-teen comics used to raise fits of giggles with these corking gags? 'Why did they make Dyslexia so difficult to spell?', 'Why does Phonetics start with a Ph?', hehe hoho..NO! As you can clearly see neither joke is funny. For starters Dyslexia isn't THAT hard to spell, and in fact its minimal complexity allows it to double up as a catching agent for those it afflicts - winner! As for the second gag, well it quite obviously shows a distinct lack of understanding of not only the breadth of linguistic science, but also the multifarious nuances that lie there in - these eight year old humorists are idiots I tell you!! If however you're determined to spell life out just as it sounds, then you're in luck because the Found Of Confusion has the very band for you.

They go by the name of FONETIKS, a trio from the city of Liverpool whose studies into the subtleties of sound formation are starting to pay handsome dividends. Armed with guitars, drums and a hard drive jammed full of effects, these occasional remixers and goodtime gig promoters, have concocted a clutch of their own tracks that fly in the face of what the world has come to expect to hear emanating from Merseyside’s music circles; shuffling, sixties tinged, psychedelia, has been shunned in favour of the type of racket that’s more likely to find acceptance back along the East Lancs Road in the parish of Manchester. There's no clearer example of their sonic direction than on the six minute slice of brooding indie electro that is 'Sounds Like'; a pulsing base beat, perpetual hi-hat, and reverberating guitar line, feed off each other to create the same brand of menacing grooves that inhabited the debut LP from The Longcut. Nor is it a one off; 'Viscious Sirens' follows the form to a tee, all be it in ever so slightly lighter tones, its high voltage visage recalling the better moments of Sumner and Marr's Electronic, or even the short window of time when U2 took a sabatical from s***ness and dropped in at the Discotheque. With a third track 'Antelope' taking its lead from the chaoitc clammer of Three Trapped Tigers, and a recent suppot slot to Found Of Confusion alumni Discopolis to boast about, it's clear that Fonetiks have talent and taste - normally I advise that you keep an eye on a band, but on this occasion there should be no need to spell it out.

P.S. please also note, The Found Of Confusion fully understands the nature of Dyslexia and is full of admiration for those who live with it.

Found Alive And Well!

Guess who's bizzack!! (little nod to the hip-hop heads there, I got ya homies!)

Yes rejoice readers, your prayers to both divine and demigods have been answered - The Found Of Confusion has returned from a self imposed settee slumber, wiped off the crumbs and popcorn kernels, and logged back in to webland in order to bring you the new music fix you so badly crave!!

Now I can clearly hear you shouting 'more new bands in the offing, yay!' - well not quite yet, lets not get ahead of ourselves, they may well follow, but for the time being you'll have to make do with fresh material from our former featured friends - hope that suffices? Only one way to find out I suppose, bring it on.
...............

Let's crash right in with some BIG news - DIMBLEBY AND CAPPER are now on the shelf marked dormant *gutted face*........ and have been replaced with a brand new project FEMME *delighted face*. The quirky quintet have so far shared two of their creations with the world at large; first came the production line electronica of 'Bring It Back Round', and that has now been supplemented by the B-52's borrowing, dub pop, of 'Who's That'. Bring It Back Round by FEMME

...........

Ok, wallets and purses at the ready, it's time for you to part company with some more of your mula as there are a clutch of singles in the offing that you need to own. Leading the charge are September 'Founders' DEAF CLUB who will follow up their 'Lull EP' with a new track 'Sunday'. Released on February 20th, it's backed by a further as yet unheard recording, 'Mirrors'. The former of the two is here right now!

You've then got exactly one week to save up your pocket money, before you splurge it all on the boys from ZULU WINTER. 'We Should Be Swimming' is already making ripples (do you get it!) having dived in (there I go again) at the top of the 6music rebel playlist - carry on at the rate they're going and they can forget getting wet, they'll be walking on the water (is there no end to the puns!).

Now firmly into the routine of setting aside your weekly 'Brilliant Bands Budget' we don't want you scrabbling around for something to blow your dough on come March 5th - thankfully no such problem will arise, because that's the day DISCOPOLIS release their second full single 'Zenithobia'. More chilled out than some of their other work but no less impressive, it's another step towards what promises to be a fantastic album.

...............

And on that note we'll bring this initial Found Of Confusion rebirth to a close - can't have you overdosing on all the excitement! Don't forget if you want to get in touch you are more than welcome to do so via e-mail ( foundofconfusion@hotmail.co.uk ), Google+, or the always reliable comment box just down below.
